STRATFORD, CT — Several classes at Franklin Elementary School will switch to remote learning due to the coronavirus, according to the Stratford school district. Two positive virus cases and two presumptive cases were reported Tuesday, district officials said in an email. Fifth- and sixth-grade classes will move to online only learning. Second-grade Classroom No. 7 will make the switch as well, due to staffing issues. The news Tuesday out of Franklin follows similar situations reported earlier in the week at Nichols and Wilcoxson elementary schools. As of early Wednesday morning, 16 students and six staff members were in isolation with the virus across the district, and 175 students and staffers were quarantined, according to the district dashboard, which reflects the most current available numbers.
