WALNUT CREEK, CA — Hundreds of people in and around Walnut Creek were without power early Wednesday morning, a PG&E outage map shows. By late afternoon, the number had dwindled to less than a dozen. One outage alone left more than 600 customers in the cold and dark. Across the Bay Area, more than 36,000 customers were without power at 4:30 a.m. By 6:30, the number had been cut to 27,000 and the number continued to go down as crews worked to restore electricity.
