POINT PLEASANT BORO – Henry Felstedt, a customer, said Klotz's Kitchen in Point Pleasant Boro gave people the one thing they needed amid the pandemic: A friendly and courteous atmosphere. "They give it that extra effort to service customers during this epidemic," Felstedt said. Klotz's Kitchen is among several establishments nominated for Patch's "Business of the Year" in Point Pleasant Boro as many businesses continue to battle through the coronavirus pandemic. But it was these businesses, the customers say, that also came through for others in need – even as they were struggling themselves. Mary R., a customer, said Klotz's also has something else: "Awesome everything." "My favorite is the Klotz Klassic sandwich with turkey, the friendly and safety-conscious staff," she said. Blackboard specials are always a delightful surprise, "making your decision harder than ever," she said. Earlier in the pandemic, Klotz's Kitchen on Bridge Avenue told Patch it was "hanging in" there. But like a number of businesses in the area, Klotz's could do better with more. During the summer, one of the owners, Coleen Klotz, said her restaurant was only doing 50 percent of the business it made last year, and Klotz's didn't really have the space to do outdoor dining. That was before Gov. Phil Murphy allowed indoor dining to open at 25 percent. "Things are going OK, I guess. They could be worse," she said. "Let's hope things get better soon." Patch readers nominated a Local Businesses of the Year. The local businesses included retail stores, restaurants, hardware shops, dry cleaners, plumbers, car mechanics, salons and more. Patch will feature nominated businesses in December. Thanks for reading. Learn more about posting announcements or events to your local Patch site. Have a news tip you'd like to share?
