Bookbinding is an ancient art that goes back thousands of years.
Artisans would take their strongest thread and sew pages together bit by bit, and finally wrap them in a piece of leather to keep the pages safe.
Surprisingly, the core of bookmaking has not changed all that much since the early days. During this class, we will examine how books are put together and replicate the process ourselves, concluding with a book of our own.
This is the final part of our ongoing Book Making course, though it is not required to take the other classes to take this one.
Previously, we made our own recycled paper, homemade ink, and handmade quills to write with; now it’s time to put everything together into your own bound book.
