Description
Fiber performance properties, construction, color and finish are the pillars of proper end use selection. Learn how these work together! Although the COVID-19 outbreak continues to change the way we live, there is always hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. Jesus is that light! Since the re-opening of the country, I've been working to create a better learning environment and here's what I am offering you; hybrid classes. You meet in person every other class. I want to do my best to enhance your learning experience while limiting your potential exposure to the virus. Textile Science 401 gives the student a quick, easy to understand presentation of textiles and how they impact the fashion industry as well as other sectors of manufactured goods. Students will learn all of the major textile segments and how they work together to produce optimal end uses in apparel and sewn products. Students will also learn how having a better understanding of textiles improves the quality of the product as well as compliance issues. By this end of this class, the student will have a solid understanding of textiles and more confidence in making better selections for their projects. Students will be required to make a swatchbook from specific included swatches. You will receive 1/2 of the swatches in 401 and the remaining in 411. These swatches will help you learn fabric names and construction methods. You are encouraged to take notes in addition to readings assignments in your textbook.
