RIVERSIDE, IL — A La Grange Highlands man who pleaded guilty to threatening police in 2019 is now facing a charge in connection with trespassing at the house where he used to live, Riverside police said. Lawrence M. O'Keefe, 71, was charged Tuesday with one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing. About 9 a.m., Riverside police received a call that O'Keefe was trying to get into the back door of a house in the 200 block of East Quincy Street, according to a Riverside police news release. For several months, O'Keefe has been trying to get into the same house, where he lived two decades ago, police said. When officers arrived Tuesday, they apprehended O'Keefe. Police said they learned O'Keefe had taken a cab from La Grange to Riverside on Tuesday to get to the house. He has been warned numerous times over the last year not to go onto the property, police said. O'Keefe previously threatened to kill Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel and other Riverside police officers, pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count in 2019 in connection with the threat against the chief, according to the news release. He also has been arrested on charges of threatening public officials in Oak Brook and Hillside, police said.
