ARRESTS DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE Halina Bochenko-Cichowski, 69, of the 200 block of South Park Lane, Palatine, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 1:01 a.m. Jan. 24 at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and West Lake Avenue. She was released on bond and assigned a court date of March 9 in Skokie.Zaid M. Mustafa, 51, of the 7600 block of South Roberts Road, Bridgeview, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 9:47 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 600 block of Shermer Road. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of Feb. 8 in Skokie. INCIDENTS HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICE An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Chestnut Avenue reported at 8:13 a.m. Jan. 19 reported receiving unwanted emails from a former employee.An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Chestnut Avenue called police at 8:44 a.m. Jan. 20 to report receiving unwanted text messages from a former co-worker. THEFT A Warwick Lane resident reported at 6:51 p.m. Jan. 19 being scammed by an unknown male who identified himself as a police officer. The caller told the resident they were wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and their Social Security number was going to be erased if they did not pay $5,000 in gift cards. The resident purchased the gift cards and provided the serial numbers to the caller. RETAIL THEFT An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road called police at 11:41 a.m. Jan. 21 to report a male and female were seen on surveillance video concealing numerous items from the electronics department on Jan. 14. Total reported loss is $2,000.An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 1:37 p.m. Jan. 22 a female stole numerous items of clothing. The employee was pushed by the female during a confrontation outside the store. The female then got into a vehicle and backed into a parked vehicle. Total reported loss is $248.An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road called police at 8:12 p.m. Jan. 22 to report a male and a female stole several bottles of alcohol. Total reported loss is $355.98. HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 7:03 a.m. Jan. 23 receiving threatening telephone calls. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY An employee of a business in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue called police at 5:59 p.m. Jan. 23 to report several juveniles damaged a sign. Total reported loss is $5. CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT A citizen reported at 8:55 p.m. Jan 23 two juveniles spray-painting the sidewalk near the children's playground at Jackman Park, 1930 Prairie St. DISORDERLY CONDUCT A resident of Hickory Court called police at 7:49 p.m. Jan. 24 to report an acquaintance made multiple threatening comments directed at them. THEFT BY DECEPTION A Ferndale Road resident reported at 8:37 a.m. Jan. 25 receiving an email from Apple concerning a pending charge of $31.86. The resident was convinced to purchase $3,400 worth of gift cards to reverse the initial transaction. The resident did not realize it was a scam until their credit cards were frozen by the credit card companies. When officers called the number a male with an Indian accent answered the telephone.
