UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Lincoln Center is giving people a chance to donate blood Thursday on the Upper West Side. The performing arts center is partnering with the New York Blood Center for the first time to help address the blood shortage in New York City due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's everything you need to know about the blood drive. When: Thursday, Jan. 28 from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Where: David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, Columbus Avenue & 62nd Street Sign Up: You must sign up in advance to donate blood — the sign-up sheet in available at NYC.org. Other Rules: Donors must wear a mask or face covering and will have their temperatures taken beforehand. Additionally, you can't donate blood if you have had a positive test or experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Also, you can't donate blood if you are currently on self-quarantine restrictions. A significant blood shortage is inflicting not just New York City, but the entire nation. The shortage comes from office buildings, churches, and schools' inability to continue hosting blood drives because of pandemic restrictions.
