Academically speaking, Chabot Athletes Setting High Standard

Chabot College Athletic Counselor and football defensive coordinator Jerome Manos has a lot to be excited about these days. This week, Manos proudly announced the names of the college's 28 student-athletes who had a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester, along with 41 others with a GPA of 3.5-3.9 and 46 more with a 3.0-3.4 GPA. It all adds up to an impressive total of 115 student-athletes at 3.0 or better. "I wanted to take a few moments to recognize the tremendous work that our student-athletes spend on their academics, as well as their commitment to their sports," Manos stated in a release. "Being a student-athlete is a challenge, especially during this difficult time of COVID-19. It requires excellent time management skills, discipline, and a strong desire to succeed. "Many of us — including the coaches — don't see what goes on in the lives of our student-athletes. Student-athletes are under constant pressure to keep high GPA's, make progress towards degree, and balance a challenging practice schedule each semester," Manos continued. Chabot football coach Eric Fanene also expressed his appreciation of the Gladiators' student-athletes and faculty. "Great Job GLADIATORS!!!! We as coaches are grateful for the support our student-athletes receive from our Administration and Faculty Members!! Keep the great work going!" Fanene declared. "Keep up the hard work Jerome!"
