More Than 400 New Coronavirus Cases Added In Jefferson County

BIRMINGHAM, AL — New coronavirus cases has seen a slight decrease over the last few days in Jefferson County until Wednesday, when the Jefferson County Department of Health confirmed 417 new cases of the virus. The new case total Wednesday comes after three straight days in which the county reported fewer than 300 new cases. Over the last week, Jefferson County has twice reported more tan 400 new COVID-19 cases, but overall has seen a more promising 7-day average than the county was reporting at the beginning of the month. Despite a decrease in average daily cases over the last seven days, Jefferson County has reported 84 deaths from COVID-19 during that time. New cases reported in Jefferson County over the last week: Jan. 21: 483 new cases, 1 deathJan. 22: 446 new cases, 27 deathsJan. 23: 468 new cases, 14 deathsJan. 24: 244 new cases, 0 deathsJan. 25: 229 new cases, 0 deathsJan. 26: 279 new cases, 42 deathsJan. 27: 417 new cases (deaths not yet reported)The state has reported more than 2,000 COVID-19 deaths in January alone, averaging 110 deaths per day.
