Description

Just tossing out there to see if any interest guitar player interested in forming some sort of rock instrumental group. Not sure how to classify. A mix of genres I'm guessing. Top objective is to be fun and listenable. Not looking for some super shred heavy type of thing. Not looking to have a song to be just be some simple vehicle for all members to go off to the races and display their chops. I'm a bit rusty, but hoping to find players better than me to help me elevate my game. I'm not big on crazy time signature or djent type stuff. I appreciate it, but just not my thing. So not looking to do a Polyphia or Chon or some other math type of thing. Here is stuff I enjoy. Not saying I can play this stuff, but stuff that I can enjoy not only as a musician, but also just as a listener. It's a bit all over the place - just seeing if any common threads with anyone out there. Melodic/tasty guitar players who have chops (Satch, Timmons, Lettieri, Hinds, Eric Gales, Greg Howe, Pete Thorn, Lari Basillo, John Mayer, etc.). I think these players focus on the song first and foremost. Again - these guys are way above my level, but I aspire to get closer a little bit each day. Protocol (Simon Phillips), Vulfpeck, Jean Luc Ponty, the Aristocrats, etc. I like most styles and would be open to fusing stuff together. Think of a more rock Snarky Puppy. What if Joe Satriani did a project with horn/sax/violin/etc. I really like when his songs also feature Mike Keneally on keys. I like Jazz, blues and country as well. I just can't play it. I can do a very poor blues like most rock guitar guys..lol. But listening to guys like Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, etc - it would be an insult to say I can play blues. I like all sorts of vocal music as well. From Motown to Beatles to Foo Fighters to AC/DC and all the classic stuff. Classic metal like Maiden and Priest. Even if I am not a fan of a certain genre, I can usually find some songs here and there that I like. I don't like to dismiss anything. just seeing if there is any common ground. All instruments - even other guitars - cool. I have no problem being the least talented person in the band. Not looking for a spotlight. Just hoping to find some people to see if we can put together some interesting and listenable instrumental stuff. Also - I would hope to keep this about music. I don't care if you are left wing or right wing, but if you are someone who spends most of their day on Facebook ranting about politics, I'll pass. No offense - I respect whatever you affiliate with, but I think for a lot of us, it has become exhausting. This is something to get away from all of that. again - just putting out feelers. I live in Warminster. Hopefully can find some players in the area. If we can get something together, I know it would be awkward and sloppy and not very cohesive to start. But I'd rather get started that just sit around talking about getting started. Hit me up if this ticks any boxes thanks for sticking with the post
