Press release from the City of Cambridge: January 26, 2021 Cambridge Police Daily Log: January 25th, 2021 Type # Date & Time Info 01/25/202103:05 INCIDENT 21000535 B&E NIGHTTIME FOR FELONY C266 S16 MASSACHUSETTS AVE Cambridge Police responded to a Massachusetts Avenue building on a report of a breaking and entering in-progress after two males were observed entering a basement window. Responding Officers detained two individuals attempting to flee from inside the building, who were found to be in possession of numerous stolen items and burglarious instruments. As a result the males, Jakob Gilbert, 21, 12 Bradbury Street in Allston, and Jacob Weiss, 21, 12 Bradbury Street in Allston, were placed under arrest on charges of Breaking and Entering Nighttime for Felony, Malicious Destruction of Property, Larceny from a Building, and Possession of Burglarious Instruments. Weiss was also charged with Fake Identification after it was discovered he had several fake driver's licenses on his person. 01/25/202108:09 INCIDENT 21000536 B&E MV / BOAT NIGHTTIME FOR FELONY C266 S16 FENNO ST A Cambridge resident reported that money was stolen from her vehicle. 01/25/202108:57 TRAFFIC 21000537 LEAVE SCENE OF PROPERTY DAMAGE C90 S24 HARVEY ST A resident of Harvey Street called to report that his parked vehicle was struck by a school bus. One of his neighbors was able to capture the license plate of the offending vehicle. This will be forwarded to the Traffic Unit for a follow up investigation. 01/25/202109:14 INCIDENT 21000538 LEAVE SCENE OF PROPERTY DAMAGE C90 S24 MAIN ST A Cambridge resident reported a hit and run crash causing property damage. 01/25/202111:38 INCIDENT 21000539 MISC. REPORT TYPE DANA ST A Cambridge resident reported that she is concerned that her social security number may have been compromised. 01/25/202111:51 INCIDENT 21000542 LARCENY OVER $1200 C266 S30 CAMBRIDGEPARK DR A Cambridge resident reported that two electric bikes were stolen from his apartment garage. 01/25/202111:52 INCIDENT 21000541 LARCENY OVER $1200 C266 S30 PACIFIC ST A Cambridge resident reports the seat was stolen off his bicycle while secured to a sign post on Concord Avenue. 01/25/202112:09 INCIDENT 21000543 LARCENY UNDER $1200 C266 S30(1) CAMBRIDGEPARK DR A Cambridge resident reported that an iPhone was stolen from the lobby of his apartment building. 01/25/202112:28 INCIDENT 21000544 LARCENY OVER $1200 C266 S30 CAMBRIDGEPARK DR A Cambridge resident reported that a bike was stolen from the bike storage area of his apartment building. 01/25/202114:47 INCIDENT 21000546 LARCENY UNDER $1200 C266 S30(1) ALLSTON ST An Allston Street resident reported the theft of a propane tank on January 25, 2021 at approximately 2:45 p.m. A suspect entered her property sometime on January 22, 2021 and removed the full tank from the base of a grill. 01/25/202115:14 INCIDENT 21000548 LARCENY FROM BUILDING C266 S20 CAMBRIDGEPARK DR A Cambridge Park Drive resident reported the theft of a package on January 25, 2021 at approximately 3:15 p.m. A suspect or suspects entered a secure storage area of her building and stole a package containing a pair of Nike sneakers. The theft occurred sometime around 2 a.m. There are multiple victims of bike and package thefts from this incident. 01/25/202115:51 INCIDENT 21000551 LARCENY OVER $1200 C266 S30 PUTNAM AVE A Putnam Avenue resident reported the theft of a duffel bag on January 25, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m. The bag had been stolen off of the front porch of the victim's residence sometime after 8 p.m. on January 22, 2021. The bag contained over $5,700 worth of electronics, clothing and jewelry. 01/25/202115:53 INCIDENT 21000550 LICENSE SUSPENDED/REVOKED, OP MV WITH C90 S23 MASSACHUSETTS AVE Cambridge Police Officers preformed a motor vehicle stop at Massachusetts Avenue. As a result, a resident of Lynn was summonsed for Operating after Suspended License, after it was concluded that he operated his motor vehicle on a public way while his license status was currently suspended. 01/25/202116:05 INCIDENT 21000555 LARCENY UNDER $1200 C266 S30(1) YERXA RD A resident of Yerxa Road reported some bicycle parts were stolen off his locked bike over the past couple months. 01/25/202116:07 INCIDENT 21000549 LARCENY FROM BUILDING C266 S20 BAY ST Cambridge Police documented a past larceny from a Bay Street residence. 01/25/202116:44 INCIDENT 21000554 MOTOR VEH, MALICIOUS DAMAGE TO C266 S28 EDUCATION CIR A Boston resident reported malicious destruction to his motor vehicle on January 25, 2021 at approximately 4:45 p.m. A suspect had stomped on the roof of his 2019 Ford Mustang while it was parked on Education Street between 11:20 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. There was significant damage to the roof as a result. 01/25/202116:46 INCIDENT 21000553 SHOPLIFTING BY ASPORTATION C266 S30A MASSACHUSETTS AVE Cambridge Police arrested Abdisamad Abubakar, 47, 80 Homes Avenue in Boston, for Shoplifting by Asportation, Possession - Class A Substance, and Possession - Class E Substance. Abubakar was observed by a Store Manager concealing multiple products in his backpack and jacket. Abubakar was stopped a short distance from the retail store, where he was identified by the Store Manager as the suspect. Shortly thereafter, Abubakar admitted to shoplifting multiple products from the establishment with the intent to deprive. Upon searching Abubakar, the following substances were located on his person: Gabapentin, Heroin, and Xanax (Alprazolam), which he identified to Officers. Subsequently, Abubakar was placed under arrest and transported to the Cambridge Police Station, where he was booked in the usual manner. 01/25/202119:01 INCIDENT 21000556 LARCENY FROM BUILDING C266 S20 CAMBRIDGEPARK DR A Cambridge Park Drive resident reported the theft of a bicycle on January 25, 2021 at approximately 7 p.m. His black road bike was taken from a secure storage area of his building sometime around 2 a.m. today. He did not recall the make or model, but estimated the value at $350. 01/25/202120:33 INCIDENT 21000557 B&E NIGHTTIME FOR FELONY C266 S16 CAMBRIDGE ST Cambridge Police arrested Richard Randall, 54, 70 Thorndike Street in Cambridge. Randall was positively identified by a named witness who had observed him entering a closed photography studio and absconding with two cameras/lenses valued at approximately $5,628. Randall was stopped by police a short distance from the photography studio and had one camera hanging around his neck when first observed. A second camera was secreted in a shopping cart that he was standing next to. Additionally, Randall admitted to officers on scene that he entered the business and took the cameras. As a result, Randall is being charged with B&E Nighttime for Felony and Larceny from Building. 01/25/202123:17 INCIDENT 21000559 SHOPLIFTING BY ASPORTATION C266 S30A MASSACHUSETTS AVE Cambridge Police responded to a Central Square business for a report of a shoplifting in progress. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. 01/25/202123:26 INCIDENT 21000560 MISC. REPORT TYPE MASSACHUSETTS AVE Cambridge Police responded to Mass. Ave. for a 3rd party 911 call. After an investigation, it was discovered that a person was refusing to leave a hotel room and needed to be removed. This press release was produced by the City of Cambridge.
