BOWIE, MD — Police said a teenager was shot and killed in Bowie on Saturday. Officers identified the victim as city resident Joshua Salvador. He was 17. The victim's friends called police around 4 p.m., telling officers they were driving him to the hospital in an SUV. An incident report noted that the group was located near U.S. Route 50 and Rutland Road when they called. Fire personnel met the car along its path and transferred Salvador to an ambulance, the Bowie Police Department informed. Medics took Salvador to the Anne Arundel Medical Center where he died from his injuries, the write-up added. Police clarified that the shooting happened in the 6700 block of Laurel Bowie Road. Officers believe the suspect and the victim had an ongoing dispute. The Prince George's County Police Department said it arrested 18-year-old Marquet Holmes Jr. of District Heights in connection with the fatal shooting. Holmes faces charges of first- and second-degree murder among other accusations, the press release specified. Officers reported that a court commissioner held Holmes without bond at the Department of Corrections. Detectives asked anybody with information to call 301-516-2512.
