PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Police said two teenagers shot and killed a minor Thursday night in Langley Park. Officers identified the victim as Angel Villatoro of Hyattsville. He was 16. Police found Villatoro wounded in an empty apartment around 9:15 p.m., an incident report added. The write-up explained that medics pronounced him dead on site. While police were investigating the scene in the 8100 block of 14th Avenue, an officer reported hearing a noise from a back bedroom around 11:30 p.m. Two people were outside the window, the officer noted, so he identified himself as a member of the Prince George's County Police Department. The release informed that the duo yelled anti-police statements at the officer before shooting at him without warning. The bullet narrowly missed, and police outside the apartment chased the suspects on foot, the report narrated. Officers said they eventually caught up to the accused males and arrested them. They identified the suspects as 17-year-old Nelson Perez Sanchez of Langley Park and 19-year-old Joshua Jurado of the Chillum area. Police charged Perez Sanchez as an adult. Officers do not release the names of minors unless they meet this qualification. The press release indicated that the duo is charged with: First-degree murderCharges related to Villatoro's deathSecond-degree attempted murder Charges related to the attempted murder of the officer Police believe the accused males shot Villatoro during an argument. Investigators also think they fled the scene before returning two hours later, leading to the confrontation with the officer. Detectives asked anybody with information to call 301-516-2512.
