WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The latest Western Springs police blotters include cases involving harassment, a scam and hit-and-run crashes. Here is information from the reports: An employee in the Mariano's shopping complex at 4700 Gilbert Ave. has been harassed by three people for 1½ years through social media, telephone calls and at the employee's workplace. The report was made Wednesday.A resident in the 4300 block of Hampton Avenue received an email that purported to be from Amazon that stated the resident had purchased a $1,000 television and had to buy two Target gift cards valued at $500 each to be refunded for the cost of the TV. The resident bought one gift card before realizing it was a scam. The incident was reported Thursday. The driver of a semi-truck was stopped at the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Ogden and Woodland avenues about 3 p.m. Jan. 14 when the truck was struck in the driver's side rear quarter panel by another semi-truck. The offending driver did not stop after the collision. A car in the 1300 block of Walnut Street was struck by a passing box truck about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 14. The rear passenger side was damaged. The offense was listed as a hit-and-run accident.
