Description

Learn the basics of Arduino UNO. The Arduino platform is an open-source microcontroller solution that has enabled many hobbyists and makers. Though there are multiple development boards available to accommodate a wide variety of applications and uses, this class will focus on the Arduino UNO. Once you have learned how to program one of the microcontrollers used by the Arduino platform, it should be much easier to learn the others. This class is taught by John Yarbrough, an experienced electrical engineer who will show you how to create some of your first projects using the Arduino platform. There will be some information at the beginning about programming and circuit prototyping practices, followed by working with the development board and any external components needed. The intention is to dedicate most of the class time to exploring different electronic and mechatronic applications through hands-on practice with the support of the instructor. The development board and components used to construct and test various circuits for this class will be provided to you, the student. It is advisable to bring your own laptop computer with the Arduino IDE already installed. This software can be downloaded at: https://www.arduino.cc/en/software No prior experience with programming or circuit prototyping is required. Minors are welcome to attend, though they must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. No additional ticket needed. To address safety considerations, you should bring your own pair of safety glasses or safety goggles. These are required to be worn while working with the tools. Though there will be break times provided, everyone will need to wash their hands with soap and water before eating, drinking, or stepping outside to smoke. Guests are asked to be on time for events. Masks or facial coverings are required at all times, except during breaks to eat, drink, or smoke. Masks and facial coverings must cover the nose and mouth, as mandated in the State of North Carolina. Restrooms are available for hand washing during the event, and hand sanitizer will be available for disinfecting hands as well. Guests will be asked to maintain social distancing during the class. MakerSpace Charlotte is located in the brick side door, up the ramp. Ring the doorbell for entry. View our complete schedule over on MakerspaceCharlotte.org
