ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park's Marcus Theatres Cinema has joined other area movie theaters in reopening this week, now with increased health and safety measures in place.
According to the theater's website, many of its services — including its concession stand — have gone virtual. Moviegoers may now purchase tickets and order snacks online before arriving at the theater. Tickets and concessions can still be purchased on-site.
The theater, predictably, requires that its patrons practice social distancing and wear masks at all times except when eating or drinking. Marcus Theatres, located at 16350 S. La Grange Road, also offers refunds for customers who stay home because they are experiencing symptoms of an illness.
In addition to ensuring patrons practice health and safety measures, Marcus Theatres said that it will screen employees for symptoms of the coronavirus before each shift. Theater employees will also frequently clean high-touch areas, practice social distancing and distribute hand sanitizer throughout the theater, according to the website.
To better enable social distancing, the theater is limiting the capacity of its auditoriums and enforcing a two-seat gap between groups when seated.
The theater said it will also provide restroom attendants to encourage social distancing frequently disinfect surfaces. Touchless faucets, soap dispensers and towel dispensers have also been installed.
Orland Park's Marcus Theatres offers showings of new and classic movies including "The Marksman," "Wonder Woman 1984," and "Goodfellas." It also offers full-theater rentals for $99 through Jan. 31.
Show times and rental information is available on the theater's website.
