SAN MATEO, CA – With a series of storms expected to bring the Bay Area some of the heaviest rainfall it has seen in more than a year, San Mateo officials are offering free sandbags.
The city's self-service sandbag locations at 2037 E 3rd Ave. and 1949 Pacific Blvd. will be open 24 hours, seven days a week.
Sandbags will be provided but residents will be required to bring their own shovel and must be able to fill their own bags.
Proof of residency is be required and a maximum of 10 bags is allowed per vehicle.
