BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police handled cases involving a sleeping security guard, a lewd photo scam, trespassing teens, a hotel dispute, a downed wire, an unknown car and a banging noise. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports: On guard? An officer stopped to speak with a man sleeping in his car about 3 a.m. Jan. 17 in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Shore Drive. The man said he worked for CS Security on the property and that he nodded off for a moment. Lewd photo scam A resident on Park Avenue told police Thursday that his son received a text message in Spanish with a lewd photo of a woman in her underwear bent over. The text referred to a Honduran woman being available for house calls. The resident said his son had received a similar message before. The phone number does not work. The officer told the resident the text was likely a scam and helped the resident block and delete the number. The officer told the resident to call back if his son receives any more such messages. Sneaking in An employee of Five Seasons Family Sports Club, 6901 S. Madison St., told police that a group of teen boys parked in the lot next door at 7020 High Grove Boulevard and climbed a 10-foot fence to access the club's outdoor swimming pool about 10 p.m. Jan. 17. No free room A man and a woman who appeared drunk refused to leave for a time after being denied a free room at Hampton Inn, 100 Harvester Drive, about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 14. They left in a black Toyota Scion. Officers could not find the people. Parked U-Haul An employee of Midwest Promotional Group, 211 S. Frontage Road, told police Jan. 15 that a U-Haul had been parked behind the building for eight hours. An officer called the owner, who said he was leasing a unit at the Karlynn building and was given permission to park there. He moved the vehicle to his unit. Downed wire Police responded to a report of a downed wire about 3 p.m. Jan. 15. A driver for Groot garbage service told an officer that his garbage truck must have caught a low-hanging wire. The officer notified ComEd and made nearby residents aware of the downed wire. Salting suspiciously A resident called police shortly after midnight Jan. 16 saying two men approached her front door in the 8000 block of Savoy Club Court. An officer spoke with an employee of DM Snow Removal, who said he was laying salt before an upcoming snowfall. Unknown car An unoccupied 2019 silver Dodge Charger with heavy front end damage was in front of a house Wednesday in the 6600 block of Shady Lane. The car, which had Tennessee license plates, was unlocked with the key inside. The Dodge was towed by B&E Towing after an Enterprise Rent-A-Car employee requested it. Banging noise A resident in the 7800 block of Circle Drive called police about 9 p.m. Wednesday about an unknown banging sound from the above vacant residence for 15 to 20 minutes. An officer found the noise was most likely coming from an unsecured front screen door swinging back and forth in the wind. The officer secured the front screen door and found an unlocked rear patio door, but was unable to secure it.
