Lakeland Community College is now offering an advanced English as a Second Language (ESL) course that will run Feb. 8 - May 7, 2021. The 12-week course will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:35 p.m.
Course highlights:
For those in households where English in not the primary language spoken, or anyone who needs to improve English-language skills to prepare for college-level classes, especially those requiring writing. Coursework includes learning proper sentence, paragraph and essay structure; principles of grammar and mechanics; and revising and editing techniques. Writing assignments will include paragraphs and short essays. Practice listening to lectures in English and taking notes. Develop reading comprehension skills, vocabulary, speaking and pronunciation skills. The cost for the course is $413.40 for Lake County residents. Additional fees may apply.
A limited amount of grant funding is available from The Lakeland Foundation in the amount of $300 toward the course cost for each of the first six students who register.
Deadline to register is Feb. 3.
