SOUTHFIELD, MI — A 16-year-old Detroit woman is in stable condition after being shot early Friday morning, according to Southfield police.
Southfield police said officers responded to the area of 8 1/2 Mile and Lahser Road around 2:50 a.m. Friday following the report of gunshots in the area.
When the officers arrived to the area, they spotted a vehicle leaving the area and pull it over, police said in a news release. Officers said they found a 16-year-old woman from Detroit in the back seat of the vehicle and bleeding from a gunshot wound.
Police said the shooting was not random and does not appear to be accidental. An associate of the victim was taken into custody, police said.
