Berkeley, California (Tuesday, January 26, 2021) - On January 18th, a woman reported that she was the victim of domestic violence by the suspect (a 32-year-old San Francisco man). During the evening of the incident, the suspect kidnapped the victim. The suspect drove the victim around the City of Berkeley and battered her—at one point sexually assaulting her. When the woman was able to escape from the vehicle, the suspect stole her car.
After further investigation into the incident, detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect's arrest. While searching for the suspect, detectives spoke with many people who were familiar with the suspect and urged them to convince the suspect to turn himself in. On January 20th, the suspect safely surrendered to the SF Sheriff's Office.
On January 25th, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged the suspect with PC 287, PC 245(a), PC 215, PC 207, PC 236, PC 273.5, PC 243(e)(1), 166(c)(1) and other charges.
