Description

An exploration of the magical effects of 2nd or multiple barrel aging with Caribbean Casks For decades American, Scottish and Irish whiskey producers have been sending their used casks “barrels” to the Caribbean to be used for the aging of rum. A relatively recent trend in the whiskey world is to take those same barrels and use them a third time for the aging of Scotch, Rye and Irish Whiskey. This class will focus on secondarily finished Scotch, Rye and Irish Whiskey. We will explore the effect on various whiskey mash bills after they have been finished in a variety of second casks from Rum producers in the Caribbean. We will sample through an amazing selection of Scotch, Rye and Irish whiskey that has been rum barrels from the Caribbean. The class will be held in The Distillery at Western Reserve Distillers. As always we have a full selection of entrees, small plates, Woodstone fired pizzas, sandwiches, wine and hand crafted cocktails for your enjoyment before, during or after the class. Class fees include the whiskey flight and instruction, all food and beverage options are available an additional fee.
