DANVERS, MA — Friends and neighbors wishing to pay final respects to former Danvers Police Chief Patrick Ambrose, who died unexpectedly on Saturday just one week after ending his 35-year career with the force, can do so while viewing a funeral procession through town Friday morning. Danvers police said the procession will begin at 10:45 a.m. at Danvers Square, travel down Maple Street and take a right on High Street. It will then loop back on High Street to Maple Street. Anyone attending is asked to wear a mask and stay socially distanced from those not from your own household. Chief Ambrose will be buried Friday morning at 11 at Wadsworth Cemetery in a private ceremony. "The Ambrose Family and the Danvers Police Department would like to express our extreme gratitude to the citizens and the businesses of the town of Danvers for the outpouring of support for retired Chief Ambrose, his family and the police department during this difficult time," the department said on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Operation Troop Support at 16 Trinity Street in Danvers, or here. An online memory book can be found here.
