Bowie Students Win Art Contest Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

BOWIE, MD — The City of Bowie named nine students the winners of its Martin Luther King Jr. Art Contest. Judges recognized the finalists at a virtual awards ceremony last Saturday. The event coincided with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which was Monday. The competition was open to all students who live or go to school within city limits. Artists in kindergarten through second grade colored a picture of King. The city gave: $75 for first place$50 for second place$25 for third place Students in grades three through five designed a poster with the theme "Hands for Justice" and wrote a summary of their project. Bowie awarded: $100 for first place$75 for second place$50 for third place Those in 6th through 12th grade made a video and submitted a written description.
