Police Find Marijuana, Gun During I-495 Traffic Stop: Report

LARGO, MD — Police said they found a driver in Largo with marijuana and a gun in his car Tuesday morning. Officers identified the accused man as 25-year-old JaQuan Demetrice Ross of Lanham. The incident started around 9:56 a.m. when a trooper pulled Ross over on I-495 southbound at Arena Drive, a write-up noted. The report added that the officer smelled marijuana when they approached the silver Chevrolet Cobalt. Police indicated that they searched the car, finding less than 10 grams of marijuana and a Smith and Wesson SD40 VE pistol. Ross is not legally allowed to own a gun, officers clarified.
