Let's get the kids outside! Slide Ranch Summer Camps are an exciting way to light up any young person’s summer. The Slide Ranch landscape provides an inspirational environment for them to explore and thrive, with a rich variety of ecosystems, from native plants and animals in the coastal scrub to the rocky intertidal zones of the coast. We also represent the edge where the wildlands meet human habitation and agriculture, with a herd of goats and sheep on pasture, bee hives, chickens and ducks, and an organic garden. These environments naturally inspire wonder, curiosity and myriad opportunities for learning, growth, and fun - all at our working ranch on the stunning Marin County coast. Campers (ages 5-13) will spend their two weeks immersed in nature, practicing farming and environmental stewardship, and exploring together as a small, cooperative group. Each camp week is full of creative, hands-on activities led by our team of skilled environmental educator Teachers-in-Residence. Campers will help care for our herd of sheep and goats, tend our flocks of chickens and ducks, hike coastal wild land trails, explore tide pools, get creative with wool and nature crafts, tend and harvest our organic garden, cook and eat farm fresh food, and more. This engaging experience will nurture a life-long appreciation of the outdoors, and help your child explore how people and the environment are connected. Slide Ranch also welcomes teens, 14-18, to participate as Junior Environmental Educators. In our Junior Environmental Educator program, teens each join a summer camp group and support their Slide Ranch teacher-mentor to facilitate a fun and engaging week of camp. This program empowers teens with skills and experience as environmental stewards, youth leaders and outdoor educators, earning a certificate of completion. Summer Camp Session 5 2 weeks, ~9a - 2p*, Mon - Fri Week 1: Aug 9 -13 Week 2: Aug 16 - Aug 20 Program Fees Campers (ages 5-13): $1,040 Junior Environmental Educators (ages 14-18): $345 Changes due to COVID-19 Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Slide Ranch is making the following changes to its Summer Camp Programs in order to most effectively minimize the risk to camp participants and staff, including, but not limited to: -Enforcing strict Programs Protocols, including: requiring camp participants to commit to a two week self-screening process as well as submitting a health questionnaire prior to being allowed to participate in camp; conducting a medical screening each morning upon arrival at camp; physical distancing, including limiting our group sizes (cohorts) and strictly restricting any mixing or co-mingling between cohorts; tailoring camp activities to limit close contact or the sharing of tools or other equipment; providing separate restroom facilities for each cohort; promoting and enforcing regular hand washing, and general hygiene; conducting regular cleaning and sanitizing of our shared spaces; and having strict guidelines and procedures for suspected cases of COVID-19. -Discontinuing Aftercare: aftercare will no longer be provided by Slide Ranch for the 2021 Summer Camp Season as we are not able to provide separate Aftercare sessions for separate cohorts. -Carpooling is only encouraged between participants from the same cohort -*Staggering drop off and pick up times to avoid mixing of participants from separate cohorts. Camp program times will vary between 8:45a and 9:45a, and ending between 2:00p - 3:00p (exact times will be communicated with all families no less than 2 weeks prior to the start of camp). A full description of all Programs Risk Management Protocols, including the internal protocols Slide Ranch is implementing for its staff and facilities, as well as what protocols Slide Ranch is requiring its Summer Camp Families to adhere to, will be sent to each family no less than 2 weeks prior to the start date of their camp session. Families will be asked to sign a commitment to abide by these protocols as a condition of their participation in Summer Camp. While we are confident that we will be able to deliver the highest quality Slide Ranch experience possible under these circumstances, families should be aware that the summer camp experience will be different from previous years, and we ask your support in preparing your child(ren) for this. Cancellation and Change Policy You will be eligible for a full refund (minus a $50 processing fee) if your Summer Camp cancellation is made at least 8 weeks before the Program start date. Cancellations received with less than 8 weeks' notice WILL NOT be eligible for a refund unless a replacement is available to take your spot. If you would like to reschedule your program, a $50 processing fee will be charged and changes will be accommodated only when there is space available.
