PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Massachusetts woman died after an SUV crash on the Spaulding Turnpike in Portsmouth on Friday, according to the New Hampshire State Police. Troopers were sent to a crash on the northbound connector around 6:30 a.m. involving a possible rollover. When they arrived, troopers found that a 2006 Ford Freestyle had crashed and killed its driver. A preliminary investigation, according to Lt. John Hennessey of Troop A, found that the SUV was driving north in the left lane when, for unknown reasons, the driver, Marisa Douglass, 49, of Amesbury, Massachusetts, lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail on the left-hand side of the highway. "As a result, the vehicle rolled over and subsequently crossed both lanes of travel," he said. "After striking the guardrail on the opposite side of the roadway, the vehicle came to final rest on its roof." Douglass was ejected from the SUV and pronounced. Did you like this story?
