Laura M. Blair is the special guest of the 2021 Women’s Perspective. Come and hear Laura's story as a Producer and Location Manager in many films and TV shows. Laura is currently wrapping up Season Two of a Warner Brothers production for the Oprah Winfrey Network titled “David Makes Man”. Laura has also initiated a local filmmakers group in Jacksonville called JAX-FILM Bar that currently has more that 1,500 local filmmakers.

David Makes Man is a drama from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”), that centers on a 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend and relied on by his hardworking mother to find a way out of poverty. He must choose between the streets that raised him or the higher education that may offer him a way out. Set in South Florida, the series is inspired by events in McCraney’s own life, and explores childhood trauma and the power of imagination to survive.

Women's Perspective is an initiative by Jacksonville Film Festival as a way to showcase and support women in the film industry. Over the past years more women have directed and produced films in a men-dominated industry. The goal of the Women’s Perspective is to celebrate, encourage and support women filmmakers.
