JOLIET, IL — A 46-year-old Joliet man finds himself incarcerated in the Kendall County Jail after Joliet police say he smacked a teenager with a belt and then held the child's mother against a wall, restricting her ability to breathe.
The incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday in the 7900 block of Hummingbird Circle, the residence of Christopher McCaa. He remains in the Kendall County Jail where he's charged with aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery. Hummingbird Circle is in far west side Joliet, near Ridge Road.
According to Joliet police, a woman and her son were beaten by McCaa. He became upset over the silverware being dirty, prompting him to take everything out of the cabinets, throwing all the silverware on the kitchen floor and ordering the victim's children to clean the cabinets.
Minutes later, McCaa returned to the kitchen and smacked the woman's son with a belt, Joliet police say.
"The victim intervened and McCaa struck her twice in the face," police reports show. "McCaa then forced the victim back against a wall and held his forearm to her throat to the point that she could not breathe."
By the time Joliet police cars got to the house in Kendall County, McCaa was gone. However, traffic officers spotted him a short while later and he was taken into custody without any problems, police said.
The victims in the case refused to go to the hospital, reports indicate.
