JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge has set bail at $100,000 for a 55-year-old Joliet man who repeatedly told Joliet police to shoot him in connection with a non-fatal stabbing inside his house in the 900 block of Campbell Street, according to police.
Michael Quinn remains in the Will County Jail where he's charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of aggravated battery.
Around 5 p.m. on Friday, Joliet police cars rolled up to the stabbing incident at Quinn's house on Campbell Street.
A woman standing outside told officers that Quinn was in the house and "he wanted the police to kill him," reports state.
After officers helped the woman to safety, police say Quinn emerged from the house and refused to show his hands, despite repeated calls from officers to do so.
"Quinn repeatedly told officers to shoot him and he ran towards the squad car that the female was in and opened the door to the squad car, attempting to pull the female from the vehicle," police said.
Officers pulled Quinn away from the squad car and took him into custody following a short struggle, police say.
Inside the house, police learned that Quinn's roommate suffered stab wounds to his stomach.
Quinn had stabbed him during an argument, police say.
A Joliet Fire Department ambulance rushed the victim to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center and the man is recovering from non-life threatening stab wounds, according to police.
Joliet police seized the knife used by Quinn during the stabbing, reports indicate.
