William B. Orenic Intermediate School Recognizes Veterans

This Veterans Day, Troy Community School District 30-C's William B. Orenic Intermediate School paid tribute to those who have served their country. Those recognized were school staff and family members of staff and students. Luke Lommatzsch, son of W.B.O. Special Education teacher Julie Lommatzsch, honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Brian Joyner honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Joyner has two sons who attend Troy schools – Jackson, who is in sixth-grade at W.B.O., and Taylor, in third-grade at Troy Hofer Elementary School. W.B.O. fifth-grader Ryan Miller has three generations of honorable veterans in his family. His father, Jason Miller, served in the U.S. Air Force during Operation Desert Storm. His grandfather, Dennis Miller, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. His great-grandfather, Harold Barwa, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The school also celebrated veterans this year in individual classrooms. Girl Scout Troop 75152, also led students in the Pledge of Allegiance. W.B.O. students in the troop are Malorie Boyer, Lexi Crandall, Grace Freeman, Nora Glisson and Erin Santerelli. The Troy School District is honored to salute these and all veterans and actively serving military members.
