In summation, four of the seven seats on the Tuscaloosa City Council will see incumbents challenged, while Districts 1 and 3 will see a new face sworn in. District 4 Councilor Lee Busby is the only incumbent on the council who has not seen a candidate qualify to challenge him on the ballot. Both District 1's Phyllis Wade Odom and Council President Cynthia Almond, who represents District 3, both announced they would not seek re-election. As of Friday, only one race for the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education is contested, with four incumbents and the board chair running unopposed.
