WALKER COUNTY, AL — Investigators say a Walker County woman missing since Dec. 17, 2020 is now believed to be the victim of foul play after the search effort on Friday turned up items belonging to 23-year-old Summer Buzbee. While the missing woman was not located, the sheriff's office says personal items were found that tie in circumstantially to what investigators believe may have happened. According to previous reports, Buzbee was last seen by her roommate at home in the Redmill-Saragossa area on Dec. 17. Investigators reported that she did not have her cell phone and did not contact any family or friends before she went missing. A person of interest was also named in the investigation, but has yet to be charged. However, the Walker County Sheriff's Office did say the man came in to speak with investigators two days ago, before opting to speak with an attorney. Tuscaloosa Patch does not publish the names of suspects until they are charged or an arrest warrant is filed. "We now consider him a suspect, as we believe through surveillance footage he was the last person with Summer while she was alive," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post. "We are asking for the public's assistance to help us." There is currently a $2,500 reward offered by the Walker County Sheriff's Office for information leading to closure in the case. Those with any information are asked to call the sheriff's office at (205) 302-6464. Follow Patch here for updates or on Facebook and Twitter.
