SARASOTA, FL — A 28-year-old Sarasota man shot and killed another man outside an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Marlin Lakes Circle Wednesday around 7 p.m., the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Witnesses told deputies that the two men were overhead arguing before several shots were fired. Perkins ran away and deputies found the victim lying in a breezeway between apartments, SCSO said. Deputies looked for the suspect, who later called 9-1-1 to report he was attacked by the victim. When they found Perkins, he admitted to the shooting. Christian Perkins has been charged with second-degree murder. (Sarasota County Sheriff's Office)During the investigation, deputies learned that Perkins and the victim knew each other and had argued Wednesday before the shooting, the SCSO said. Detectives determined that Parkins didn't shoot the victim in self-defense. Both Perkins and the victim live on Marlin Lakes Circle. Because of Marsy's Law, the victim's name won't be released, the SCSO said. Perkins faces second-degree murder charges. Like what you're reading?
