GREAT NECK, NY — Firefighters were called to Devon Road in Great Neck Sunday night after a fire broke out inside of a two-story home.
A police spokesman said 911 dispatchers received the 911 call just after 6 p.m. and when officers arrived they saw smoke emanating from the home, but all of the residents had escaped to safety. No injuries were reported, police said. No further information was available from police.
The Great Neck Fire Alert Company reported on its Facebook page that the fire was stamped out in a short time and with the help of nearby firefighters from Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company and the Manhasset-Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire is one of three to break out along the North Shore over the weekend. Local firefighters also responded to fires on Saturday in Lattingtown and Sea Cliff where, according to police, 65 firefighters from surrounding departments assisted the Sea Cliff Fire Department in a four-alarm blaze.
A woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of "partial burns" to her face following the Sea Cliff blaze, police said. The investigation into the fire is continuing, police said.
