Don't just complain; serve on a town committee
The town seeks candidates for a vacancy on the Arlington Redevelopment Board, which will be open in February.
Jenny Raitt, director of planning and community development, told YourArlington on Jan. 5 that Katie Levine Einstein resigned from the board the day before and announced this to the board Jan. 4.
She cited new demands created by her new position working for Ibram Kendi as a member of his leadership team at the BU Center for Antiracist Research as well as balancing child care during the pandemic.
Residents with experience in land-use planning, municipal zoning or urban design or architecture are encouraged to apply to serve.
The Redevelopment Board is a volunteer board: four members are appointed by the town manager with approval by the Select Board and one member is a gubernatorial appointee.
The board serves the town as the planning board, urban-renewal authority and special permit-granting authority for Environmental Design Review.
The boardtypically meets two Monday evenings per month. Please mail or email a resume and letter of interest by Jan. 22 to Raitt, secretary ex-officio, Arlington Redevelopment Board and Director of Planning & Community Development at This email address is being protected from spambots.
