Seeking people who are looking to get their hands dirty while at the same time connecting with a small but growing community of people participating in the development of 1/2 acre garden project behind Grace Good Shepherd Church/Abbey of the Redwoods at 1450 Hiller Rd in Mckinleyville. This plot of land has been a garden providing food for the local food bank for the past 30 years. We are re-envisioning, re-fertilizing, and re-enlivening this space with new ideas, richer soil, and new fresh and enlivened participation from folks who are seeking an opportunity to learn about farming/gardening or those who have knowledge and experience to share with others. Looking for volunteers to come participate in planting, weeding, manure spreading, fruit tree pruning, animal husbandry projects, and food processing projects. We are also interested in finding folks who are skilled in "sustainable living" who are looking to share their skills with our community at such a crucial time where us humans and the precious beautiful lands here on the north coast will benefit from coming together as a community to live more closely with the Earth and each other. If you have a skill and want to teach a workshop or class, we are seeking folks who might benefit from this space to hold courses.
