CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters rescued an injured hiker who was lost in the woods between Concord and Boscawen on Sunday. Around 12:15 a.m., fire dispatch received a call about a hiker, possibly with a head injury, on the Weir Road-Boscawen Town Forest Trails. The hiker, dispatch said, was in an unknown area of the trails but believed to be not far from the trailhead, which is located at 73 Weir Road, near Beaver Pond. Dispatch sent an engine, tower, ambulance, a car, and a UTV unit to the area to find the woman. Dispatch said police were already at the scene near a parked car. Did you like this story? Police attempted to ping the woman's cellphone to find her and were able to find footprints along the trail. Firefighters learned the woman had been lost in the woods for more than three hours. It is unknown what she was doing in the woods at that hour of the evening. The UTV unit began searching along the trail and, later, a Bow K-9 unit was called in to assist with the search, too. At just before 1:30 a.m., the woman was found. Concord Chief Guy Newbery said the UTV unit found the hiker about a quarter of a mile into the woods. "The woman was transported out of the woods with the Concord Fire Department UTV 1 and denied transportation to the hospital," he said. "Extreme cold and wind made for dangerous conditions for the lost hiker." Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected]. View videos on Tony Schinella's YouTube.com channel or Rumble.com channel.
