Description

Press release from the City of Golden Valley: January 22, 2021 The Golden Valley City Council is expected to hold a first consideration of an updated pet leashing ordinance at its Feb 16 regular meeting. The draft ordinance will be published on the City website Feb 12. In early 2020 the Golden Valley City Council began considering updates to the City's pet leashing ordinance. The current ordinance allows pets to be off-leash in public spaces if controlled by voice commands. The first step involved taking public input in the form of a survey, which was active Feb 18–Dec 1, 2020 and gathered 625 responses. It revealed 70 percent (451 respondents) agree the City should have an ordinance requiring all pets to be leashed at all times in Golden Valley public spaces. It also revealed 61 percent (391 respondents) think 6 feet is an acceptable maximum leash length. This press release was produced by the City of Golden Valley.
