PHILADELPHIA — The father of a 9-year-old girl who was unintentionally shot by another child is facing felony charges now, according to Philadelphia authorities.
District Attorney Larry Krasner said Blake Davis, 39, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, recklessly endangering another person, and firearms crimes.
Davis's 9-year-old daughter was shot by another child Wednesday morning in a home on the 2300 block of North Bouvier Street, authorities said.
Police were called to the home at about 10:55 a.m. Wednesday and found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
She was taken to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
At the time of the shooting, the girl's brother and cousin, both minors, were inside the residence with no adult supervision, the DA's office said.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit is still investigating the shooting.
