MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Manhattan Beach Police Department crime report for Jan. 11-17 includes three assaults, a residential burglary, two vehicle burglaries and several thefts. Monday, Jan. 11 proved to be the busiest crime/arrest day with seven reports filed, two of which were assaults that occurred in the 1600 block of 23rd Street and the intersection of 2nd Street and North Redondo Avenue. The remaining five crimes were all thefts that included two catalytic converters, a scam and a theft that took place in an unlocked vehicle. The catalytic converters were stolen in the 1400 block of Rosecrans Avenue; the scam pertained the 800 block of 1st Street; the unlocked vehicle theft was in the 1400 block of 19th Street and another theft took place in the 1400 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. On Tuesday, Jan. 12, a shoplifting theft occurred in the 1200 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard and a theft of an unlocked vehicle happened in the 600 block of 27th Street. On Wednesday, Jan. 13, an assault took place in the 2800 block of Manhattan Avenue, a package theft occurred in the 1100 block of 23rd Street, a theft took place in an unlocked vehicle in the 900 block of 27th Street and a residential burglary was reported in the 2200 block of Bayview Drive. Another residential burglary took place on Saturday, Jan. 16 in the 3500 block of The Strand, a theft occurred when a key fob was inside a lockbox in the 400 block of 24th Street and a shoplifting theft took place in the 2900 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard. A vehicle burglary happened on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 1st Street and South Sepulveda Boulevard. The Manhattan Beach Police Department reports these "Preliminary Crime Statistics," which are "subject to change and correction" as a way "to give citizens a good ballpark of crime in Manhattan Beach, but they are not official numbers."
