LOS ANGELES, CA — A man was in "grave" condition after he was struck by a Metro A (Blue) Line train in South Los Angeles Saturday. The man was transported to a nearby trauma center, officials said.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 11:39 a.m. to the 4000 block of South Long Beach Avenue, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department wrote in a statement Saturday afternoon.
The victim was briefly entangled with the train, Humphrey wrote.
"The patient was quickly freed by LAFD responders and is being transported to a regional trauma center," Humphrey wrote. "The tracks are presently clear, with the train remaining at the location, and no injuries aboard."
No other details were released and the direction the train was heading was not disclosed.
