Description
GILROY, CA — The city of Gilroy has extended the deadline for proposals seeking a public-private partnership to create a recreational tourism-based project.
The city is seeking a partner to develop Gilroy Gardens, a 536-acre site at the edge of the city limits at Hecker Pass Highway.
The deadline for submitting a proposal has been extended to Feb. 12. It had originally been set for Jan. 19.
The property is currently operated and managed by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which runs a family-oriented theme park on approximately 50 acres of the site.
There is an additional approximately 100 acres of unused or underutilized space at the base of a sizable hillside property.
The remainder of the property comprises hillside open space that the city desires wants to develop for recreational and outdoor activities including down-hill biking, horseback riding, hiking, ziplining, among other uses.
