CARLSBAD, CA — A brush fire prompted evacuations Wednesday afternoon in Carlsbad. The fast-moving blaze, dubbed the "Park Fire," sparked off Park and Sunnyhill drives, near Capri Park, according to SoCal Air Operations. The fire broke out just moments after fire crews were able to contain another brush fire in Rancho San Diego. Also see: Brush Fire Threatens Structures In Rancho San Diego Carlsbad police said all residents of the following areas should evacuate: Bristol Cove and CapriAll homes from Adams Street, Park Drive to Highland Drive All homes of Highland Drive from Hoover Street to Adams StreetSunburst RoadHillside Drive, Neblina Drive east, Cove Drive southSea Bluff Circle and Coastline Avenue "Officers in the area are notifying residents in the evacuation area," Carlsbad police said on Twitter. "Please follow officer instructions and help us by staying clear of the area." #ParkFire - Carlsbad - All residents of Highland Drive from Hoover to Adams have been evacuated or advised to evacuate. "If you are in the evacuation area and you need assistance evacuating, please dial 911 and we will assist you," police tweeted. Police cleared residents out of 200 to 250 houses on various streets, authorities said. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to halt the spread of the flames, which charred roughly 1.5 acres and damaged some decks outside homes, city officials reported. Fire crews across Southern California have responded to several blazes that have cropped up over the last 24 hours as a gusty and damaging Santa Ana wind event swept the region. The National Weather Service issued advisories and warnings for high winds and elevated fire danger on Monday, placing fire agencies on high alert. #ParkFire (#Carlsbad, San Diego Co) Forward spread has been stopped at approximately 1.5 acres.
