WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A Colorado geophysicist who was accused of dragging a police officer down steps of the United States Capitol to have him beaten with an American flag was arrested by the FBI in Westchester County. Jeffrey Sabol, 51, was taken into custody Friday at the Westchester Medical Center, News 12 reported. He had tried to flee to Switzerland and tried to commit suicide, which is why he was at the hospital. Sabol was ordered held without the possibility of bail during an appearance in White Plains federal court, the New York Post said. Judge Andrew Krause said his conduct — captured on video — was disturbing, troubling and "beyond the pale." Authorities said the video showed Sabol, who was wearing a brown jacket, helmet and green backpack, dragging an officer from the Metropolitan Police Department on the ground in front of the Capitol building, CNBC reported. Another rioter then began hitting the officer with a flagpole that had an American flag on it. Like Hudson Valley Patches' Facebook Pages.
