MILWAUKEE, WI — State officials say they're allowing some stores to open back up in Wisconsin after the state recorded a 14-day downward trajectory of positive COVID-19 test results. According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the state has now seen a total of 10,434 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and have seen a total of 410 virus-related deaths. Yet as the case counts and fatality count rise, state health officials say the percentage of all tests that have come back positive for COVID-19 has decreased. For example, on Sunday, eight percent of all tests reported positive results. On Monday, that figure was six-and-a-half percent. Sign up for Patch alerts and daily newsletters. According to the governor's office, the state Under the Governor's Badger Bounce Back plan, Wisconsin is not quite ready to move ahead into Phase One of the plan. In Phase One, the state would move to reopen restaurants under social distancing guidelines, reopen essential businesses and lift retail restrictions, partially reopen nonessential businesses, reopen K-12 schools and reopen day care businesses. As of Monday, the following criteria would all have to be met before the state can move to phase one: NO Downward trajectory of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) reported within a 14-day period. NODownward trajectory of COVID-like syndromic cases reported within a 14-day period. YESDownward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period. YES95 percent of hospitals affirm that they can treat all patients without crisis standards of care. YES95 percent of all hospitals affirm that they have arranged for testing for all symptomatic clinical staff treating patients at the hospital per CDC guidelines. NODownward trend of COVID-19 cases among health care workers calculated weekly.
