Description
SHOREWOOD, WI — Traffic signal boxes, those oddly-placed washing machine-sized metal boxes that house traffic signal controls, are getting a facelift thanks to the Shorewood Public Art Committee.
Over the winter, the committee convened a jury of Shorewood residents to select artists to design artistic coverings that would be placed over the boxes. All the artists selected by the jury have ties to the Village, organizers said.
The committee worked with the Shorewood Historical Society to introduce the artists to Shorewood's history.
The artists then came up with designs that will be affixed to 11 traffic signal boxes in early August, weather permitting, organizers said.
