Description

From the City of Charleston: Posted March 17, 2020 The attached letters were sent to Senator Joe Manchin III and Senator Shelly Moore Capito by the Kanawha County Commission and Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin today. During a press conference this afternoon, President Trump made numerous references to West Virginia "not needing" federal resources during the Covid-19 crisis. The Commission and Mayor Goodwin are deeply concerned by these comments and putting West Virginia at the "end of the line" for funding. Kanawha County and the City of Charleston request our congressional delegation remain vigilant in their crusade to ensure West Virginia is treated no differently in regards to receiving federal funding. President Carper said earlier of the President's statements, "This is not the message we need to be sending. We are where NY was 4 weeks ago." This press release was produced by the City of Charleston. The views expressed here are the author's own.
