Charleston City Announces Holding Virtual Town Hall Meeting On March 31

Press release from the City of Charleston: March 29, 2020 Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin and Kanawha County Commissioners Kent Carper, Henry C. Shores and Ben Salango announced today that a virtual town hall meeting will take place Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be hosted on the ZOOM video conferencing service and will be available to view online via the City of Charleston and Kanawha County Facebook pages. This is being done in an effort to promote social distancing. Panelists for the town hall include Senator Joe Manchin III, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Dr. Sherri Young from the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, Dr. Ron Duerring with Kanawha County Schools, Assistant Chief David Wagoner with the Charleston Fire Department and Margaret O'Neal with United Way. Mayor Goodwin and Commissioner Salango will moderate the discussion. "These are difficult times and we felt that it was important to bring folks the information that they are most interested in," said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. "We have experts in healthcare, socialservices, folks from our school system and elected officials ready to answer your questions." "Any opportunity for the public to obtain accurate information concerning this crisis in real-time is beneficial," stated Commission President Kent Car Commissioner Ben Salango commented, "I believe that this is a crucial time in everyone's lives and, as leaders in the Community, we are all working to provide the best information we can to help slow the spread of this virus. By providing answers to questions that are on the minds of many, we can help them understand the processes they will be going through when it comes to their everyday lives. We are working daily to ensure the public receives the assistance they need and this Virtual Town Hall will provide important information."
